Monet, Renoir and Degas are the names known not only to art lovers, but also those not interested in art. The basics of Impressionism: capturing the moment, painting outdoors, depicting scenes from modern life, are known by everyone. But Impressionism is so much more. For example – Degas didn’t consider himself to be an Impressionist. Towards the end of his life, Monet painted water lilies that are 100% abstract. Renoir on the other hand looked towards the old masters and the classics. There are artists who are equally important to the movement but who have faded a little in comparison with those we have already mentioned. Have you heard of Caillebotte, Bazille, Gonzales or Bracquemond? Did you know that there were four female Impressionists? Or that, during the first decades of Impressionism, the entire group was mocked, hated and didn’t earn money, but everything changed in the 1880s and 1890s thanks to one, very stubborn art dealer who saw his chance in the United States? We must warn you – this Impressionism online course really summarises everything you need to know about Impressionism. Every important member of the Impressionist group has a separate lesson devoted to them. This course is filled with paintings and contexts about the epoch, biographical information and, of course (this is always the most interesting part!), gossip about the artists. This course is HUGE. LONG. TIME-CONSUMING. Which is why it has the word “MEGA” in the title. But after its completion you will truly know everything there is to know about Impressionism. And a disclaimer – if you don’t yet know anything at all about Impressionism or art in general, don’t worry. The course is designed to be interesting for both beginners and advanced students. After finishing it you can call yourself a hardcore Impressionism fan. If you’re looking for something quicker, cheaper and with much less information – try out our other course “Impressionism – The Basic Course” available on the platform. But if we haven’t scared you with this one, check it out first! The Author Zuzanna Stańska Art historian, CEO and Founder of DailyArt. Her hobby is to teach art history in the simplest and most interesting way. After writing the courses about Impressionism, she became a huge fan of it. I am a docent at a midwestern museum and this course will certainly add to my tours. Suggestion- Please add a timeline Please create many more tours!!!!! Thank you! bo***********@gmail.com 30 Nov 2021 An excellent course, with just the right amount of detail. 24 Oct 2021 It was a expendable journey for me exploring the world of impressionism which seems to far back from my home in Indonesia. This course taught me a lot about the -ism especially from the center of the art world itself which is France. Nice course, cant wait for the next art history courses onwards 12 Sep 2021 I loved it and will repeat it - it was a lot to absorb 21 Aug 2021 I'm one of the art lovers mentioned in the last lesson-I adore Impressionism. I would love to visit all the museums that house Impressionist paintings. This course introduced me to many Impressionist painters and paintings, and I learned about the different interpretations of what categorizes Impressionism. I was impressed by the biographies of the painters themselves and the impact of the contemporary political situation of France. I'm going to read up on the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 to get a context of these individual painters and how their lives were affected by these events. I was also spurred on to read more about the painters. The course was reasonably priced, which was a factor in signing up for it. However, I felt that the "galleries" could have been better with more pictures, there were sentences pulled out of other books and not annotated, and the articles carefully proofread. 11 Aug 2021 I really loved to join this course. I was fascinated by the selection of the artists as well as the works of art. The DailyArt-Team managed the balancing act between complexity and simplicity. I‘ve learned so much and I really enjoyed it. Thank you! kt*****@cox.net 10 Jul 2021 Really enjoyed the course, a nice bite size of history in each lesson with art work that perfectly illustrate the text. A really good improvement would be an audio version to bring alive the authors and give us American readers a clue to how to pronounce all of the French names and phrases. 21 Jun 2021 I loved this wonderfully curated course. it gave me so much insight into the world of impressionism, far more than is available on the internet. thank you for this amazing course! 11 Jun 2021 This mega course was AMAZING! Such facts and it was laid out so well for the reader. Really loved being able to closely study each piece that was shown I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about Impressionism. 11 Jun 2021 Loved it. It is a lot of information. I am going to go through it again. Great job. Thank you al**********@gmail.com 11 Jun 2021 I really enjoyed the course! It’s amazing! I learned a lot about Impressionism. I already made a list of all masterpieces that I want to “contemplate” in museums. I did wish that there were quizzes by the end of each lesson. That’s my only comment. I am waiting the Post-Impressionism (Mega version). Could you please confirm whether or not a mega version would be offered? Many Thanks! 05 Jun 2021 Ha sido una memorable experiencia, el descubrimiento del impresionismo y lo revolucionario que significo para el mundo del arte en la posterioridad . It felt as if I was sharing space with those people and watching history being created in front of my eyes. I'm literally spellbound by what I've witnessed through these 20 lessons. The course lives up to its name and delivers engaging content which is holistic in its approach. Wonderful storytelling with some personal touches made the content even more relatable for me. This is exactly how one should go about learning art history, especially if you're not from an art background like me. After going through this course, I can understand why Impressionism continues to enthrall the audiences centuries later. Looking forward to what's in store with other courses on Daily Art! :) 23 Mar 2021 This is a great course: informative, well designed and beautifully presented. Essential study for anyone who seeks a meaningful and detailed fgrounding in Imprssionism. 21 Mar 2021 Enjoyed it a lot, thank you very much :) 20 Jan 2021 Very interesting! I am retired and am always looking for new things to learn; this course really hit the spot. Individual lessons are not too long, and are very well laid out. Well worth the time and money. le***********@gmail.com 20 Jan 2021 I loved it! My life is quite busy but the short sessions could be read with my morning coffee, so I kept up and logging in became a daily pleasure. I also liked the level and the style. I didn’t want anything too intellectual or academic. This is friendly but highly informative. The quality of the images is impressive. Thank you. lh************@gmail.com 17 Jan 2021 I really enjoyed the narrative and pacing of this course. It connected a lot of dots. I am going to go through it again! 09 Jan 2021 It is more detailed than any university lesson on Impressionism. You truly understand the importance of Impressionism and how it set the course for all modern and contemporary art. I can't recommend it enough! <3 <3 08 Jan 2021 Ah, we live in a world where time is compressed into little blocks of daily wants and needs; and where we long for a little something more. Here it is! A look into the lives and ideas of a group of artists whose impressions enlightened those little blocks of daily life into something more sublime. Simple but profound. The haystacks, the floor scrappers, the water lilies, the ballerinas, the boat party, the landscapes, etc. all warm our perception of what is significant in our little corner of life. This course satisfies our need to better understand these artists, their world, and their need to express their impression of it. Thank you. 07 Jan 2021 Muy bueno, recomendable! ho***********@yahoo.com 06 Jan 2021 I very highly recommend this course to anyone who has an appreciation for art. It's almost as if I've been a time traveler in the 1880s and sat with Renoir, Degas, Cassatt, Caillebotte, Money, Morisot, Pissarro, and the other Impressionists. This class is a story of how some of the most famous artists lived- their personal lives, families, inspirations, struggles, mentors- and how they died. Complete with images of paintings, sketches, etchings and photographs, the class made the Impressionist period come alive for me. Money very well spent. I look forward to taking the next class. 05 Jan 2021 Great presentation of a fascinating movement and it's continuing influence. I've seen many of the paintings and wish I had had this course before seeing them. ga********@hotmail.com 20 Dec 2020 A very complete course! <3 ne*****@gmail.com 12 Dec 2020 This was a fantastic course! I learned a ton of new information and the collection of works was amazing. I can’t wait to take post-Impressionism course! 29 Nov 2020 congrats, well done , well researched, left nothing. Included many information which is less known. Look forward to more courses, maybe abstract expressionism or cubism or Bauhaus. Yogesh sa**********@outlook.com 11 Nov 2020 Thank you for a wonderful course on Impressionism. It contains a lot of valuable information about artists, the time, and most importantly paintings. :) I will definitely recommend this course to my friends and all art enthusiasts! el***************@gmail.com 04 Nov 2020 The course was fun & very informative! Great job and huge thanks! The platform was very slow & therefore confusing. It took me quite a while to get to the right place each time I returned to the course. It could be more intuitive, though speed would help. Thanks again for a terrific experience. I look forward to the next one. re******@me.com 29 Oct 2020 Thank you for the wonderful course on Impressionism. You have opened my eyes to understanding the paintings, some of which I (we) have seen since childhood. You have shown us how they fit into the world of art and the world at large. Thank you especially for enlightening me to the women in the group, most of whom I'd never heard, but now will never forget. Paul Reid Arundel, Maine ga******@yahoo.com 16 Oct 2020 I started each day with just one of the lessons like a lovely little tid-bit to get my day going. The lessons were well prepared and well written. I wish there had been some American representatives like Childe Hassam, Mary Cassatt doesn't really count :) My main issues are technical. It never remembered my log in, although I kept clicking Remember Me and it failed to remember where I was in the course. I developed work-arounds but still could be annoying. I am interested in the Post-Impressionism course! ma******@sbcglobal.net 14 Oct 2020 Excellent overview of French Impressionism, with lots of fun details to keep your interest. The artists and their works seem to "come alive" in these lessons as you read about them. Can't wait for the Post-Impressionism course! 14 Oct 2020 Amazing! It's impossible to learn so much in a more amusing way <3 12 Oct 2020 I really enjoyed the course. It contained lots of interesting details and gave me a better view of the artists and work of the period. I can’t wait to learn more in your other courses! 12 Oct 2020 I never have met such a comprehensive course on Impressionism. It is quite amazing and all art lovers should take this ! 04 Oct 2020 A very good and detailed course about Impressionism. It explains how it started, its traits and even talks about Impressionist artist and shows some of their works. Essential for everyone who loves art history and especially Impressionism and certainly a great course for everyone who wants to learn about this genre in more depth. 04 Oct 2020 A very interesting course into the history of Impressionism. Definitely in-depth and even if not all parts stick with you, it will leave you curious about further exploring this wonderful art movement. 26 Sep 2020 Comprehensive overview of the Impressionist artists. Enjoyed the addition of the galleries to enhance the discussion. One problem I had was advancing to the next lesson. I could not unlock the lock icon therefore I had to scroll through every previous lesson to access the next. Overall, a very interesting survey of the movement, its artists, their lives and their work. I hope you will put together another course on Abstract Expressionism. Thank you. Stephanie Banks as***************@gmail.com 25 Sep 2020 The greatest thing about this course (beside fantastic selection of masterpieces and tons of useful facts) is that it makes you start genuinely care about artists - their attitudes, views on art, background - and their works. So even if you don't particularly like Impressionism, at the end you would completely understand why it's such a big thing. gi********@me.com 25 Sep 2020 I was disappointed on opening the course to find that there was no online lecturer and sound - just illustrations and reading matter. However, the course is well divided into bite size pieces which are easy to absorb, and the format has the advantage of being able to go back and revisit the pages at will. I would have liked to have had a chapter included on Manet. Even though he did not include himself within the band of impressionists he had some influence and friendship with them and I’d have like to have seen some of his paintings as a comparison. cl********@yahoo.com 24 Sep 2020 A wonderful course, very informative and beautifully done - thank you! le******@gmail.com 17 Sep 2020 love your content Daily Art!
